Papa’s Pilar Rum, Key West
Papa’s Pilar Rum is a Key West classic. This Key West distillery is owned by the Ernest Hemingway family and named after the famous author’s boat. It’s a great place to stop after a visit to the Hemingway House. They donate much of the proceeds to local and international causes. Although they have fewer rums than First Legal for you to taste, the quality and flavor are just as good. Plus, their website features recipes for you to try making in your kitchen at your Hemingway condo.

Key West Distilling’s Key West distillery closed, but they’re still on our list because they’re just moving to the neighboring Stock Island. In addition to rum, they make vodka, whiskey, and gin. So, if one of your travel partners isn’t a big rum fan, Key West Distilling has something for them.
